SPITZER Aganetha

Posted: April 13th, 2013

With deep sorrow, we announce that MRS. AGANETHA (NETA) SPITZER (Nee Olfert) has gone to join her loved ones with Christ. Neta passed from this world with family at her side on April 10, 2013 at the age of 83 after a valiant effort for life. Though she faced many health challenges in her last few years, the spark of life still glimmered and shone periodically in her sense of humor and rare laughter. Despite missing her physical presence, we know that she will always be with us and that she has at last gone to join that card came in Heaven with her loved ones gone before.
After being born and raised in Saskatchewan, Neta moved to Alberta to live the rest of her life and is survived by her children Sandra (Lawrence) Thomas, Rosaland (Dwight) Zatko, Roxanne Tivadar (Gary Radford), and Charlotte (Gary) Kirk, her stepsons Duane (Eileen) Spitzer, and Robert Spitzer, 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. The 3rd youngest of 14 children, Neta is predeceased by her parents and all siblings except for her sisters Mary Glenn, Helen Driedger, and brother Jake (Esther) Olfert. Besides her parents and siblings, Neta was also predeceasd by her loving husband Milton and her son-in-law Dwight.
To all who knew her, Neta was a strong yet gentle, privately devout, loving woman who enjoyed winning at card games , bingo, and Nevada tickets, listening and dancing to old time country music and laughing with family and friends. She was known for her creative side, especially in her cooking and sewing talent while spending her spare time on various other crafts, all done with love for family and friends.
The last two years of her life were spent at Edith Cavell where, through faced with numerous health issues, she was lovingly cared for by compassionate hands and hearts. Special thanks are forwarded to the staff who knew and cared for her there. She will be forever loved. Missed by her family and friends but her spirit will live forever in our hearts.

Please accept my most sincere condolences on the death Neta. I worked with Neta at ECCC. Neta was a lady who knew what she wanted and few people were able to change her mind once she had made it up. Neta loved her independence and strived to keep it dispite her ailing health. Neta loved snack time – coffee, cookies and puddings. Neta will be missed but she is now in the loving arms of Jesus, free from all pain and suffering. Rest in peace my friend.
