APRIL 25, 1939 – APRIL 16, 2013
It is with sadness we announce the passing of Florence Clarissa (McCabe) Williams after a lengthy chronic illness of Acute Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension.
She leaves to mourn her husband McKay Williams of 55 years, and four children: Dennis Williams (Jasper, AB), Diana (Tony) Carlson (Red Deer, AB), Mona Gonzalez (Lethbridge, AB) and Dale (Marylou) Williams (Lethbridge, AB), and eight grandchildren: Shaunna, Stephanie, Kyle, Joseph, Jonathan, Amanda, Robert, and Marilee, four great grandchildren: Shay, Julissa, Kai, and Sam, two sisters, Betty and Irene, and one brother Jim and many in-laws and extended family.
She was predeceased by her parents John Alexander and Bella Irene McCabe, two brothers: George and Bob, and her sister Jean, and one grandchild Thomas (Dale and Marylou).
Florence was born in Sussex, New Brunswick, moving to Ontario when she was eight years old. She came to Alberta at 15 years of age. She met her husband McKay at Waterton Lakes, Alberta. In 1958 Florence became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She has since served faithfully including serving as the Relief Society President 4 times. She loved the Savior and enjoyed Sundays. During her lifetime she had many different work experiences including selling world books, being a waitress, a bank teller, a dental assistant, a ward clerk at Cardston Hospital, and a Real Estate Agent.
The work Florence loved most was her craft business where she enjoyed dried flower arranging, wooden tole painting projects, and more recently appliquéd shirts and jackets, all of which she would sell at Christmas Craft Shows. Most of all Florence enjoyed her grandchildren and fixing Sunday dinners. Her favourite hymn became “Because I Have Been Given Much” which she exemplified with serving and giving to others. She will be missed by many.
