GASZLER Vincent

Posted: May 1st, 2013

VINCENT GASZLER passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on Saturday, April 27, 2013 in Raymond, Alberta.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Magdalena, and 3 daughters: Patsy (Randy) Heggie, Elaine (Bill) Leishman and Peggy Gaszler. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, as well as one sister Ann (Bob) Weir.
He was predeceased by his mother Katalin, his father Vincent, stepmother Anna, younger sister Elizabeth and infant brother Frank.
Vince was born on October 7, 1923 in Gyarmat Gyor Hungary. He immigrated with his parents to Canada in 1937 and settled in Raymond. He worked as a farmer his whole life and following retirement from farming worked for the Raymond Irrigation District until he was 83 years old. He enjoyed being with the farmers in the Raymond area.
He grew sugar beets for over 40 years and took the last load of beets into the Raymond Sugar Factory prior to its closure. Vince was known for his straight beet rows, clean fields and bumper crops.
Vince worked hard to provide for his family and was proud of their accomplishments. He stayed busy working around his home and yard, and even in his late 80’s he still enjoyed excellent health and could put in a full day’s work until his passing. He and Lena loved to spend time visiting with family and life-long friends in the community. He will be sadly missed by all of his family but fondly remembered, especially for his great example of love, hard work and dedication.
The Funeral Service will be held Thursday, May 2, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at CHRISTENSEN SALMON GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME, 703-13 Street North, Lethbridge. Friends may meet the family prior to the service from 10:00 to 10:45 am. Interment to follow in the Temple Hill Cemetery, Raymond.
