OLITCH Charles

Posted: May 1st, 2013

It is with deep sadness the family of Charles “Chuck” Olitch announces his passing on April 25, 2013 in the Lethbridge Chinook Regional Hospital at the age of 92.
Chuck was born on September 28, 1920 to Vince and Helen Olitch of Bellevue, Alberta. He grew up and was educated in the Crowsnest Pass along with his brother Vince and sister Velma.
Chuck married Olga Terlecki of Hillcrest, Alberta in 1948 and pursued a career in the area coal mines. He was a member of the Coleman Collieries marching band, the local Masonic temple, and enjoyed fishing and hunting while starting a family with three children.
The family moved to Calgary in 1958 where Chuck mastered a lifelong career as a professional painter. While in Calgary, he continued his outdoor pursuits and kept a strong connection to the Crowsnest Pass. Olga pre-deceased him in 1980, at which time he moved back to the Pincher Creek area, where he met his second wife Pearl Kettles who he married in 1983. With his three children and Pearl’s six children, Chuck enjoyed the remaining years of his life surrounding himself with family and friends, travelling, and his newest passion golf while painting numerous local homes and businesses.
Chuck was defined by his courage and strength, being kind, witty, entertaining and always generous with his time to his family and friends. He now joins his late wives Olga and Pearl, and will be greatly missed by his sweetheart Freda Bruder, children: Lorna Olitch (David Parson), Barbara Porchenick (Bernard), and Gordon Olitch (Maureen), step children, Linda Woods (Timothy- deceased), Gloria Davidson (Richard), Glenn Kettles (Ann), Brenda Kettles, Randy Kettles (Linda), and Charlene Smith (Jason). He also is survived by his brother Vince, grandchildren: Jason O. (Joni), Jeff (Whitney), Amanda (Dave), Jason W. (Kristy), Christopher (Natalie), Shantal, Chad (Kathlynn), Glenda, Aley (Wade), Loralie (Devon), Tanner, Chelsey, and 7 great grandchildren.
The family would also like to thank Doctors Anderson, Feduk, Gelber, Irving, Rottger, Wong and the nursing staff at the Pincher Creek Hospital for believing in Chuck and all their years of compassionate care.
A celebration of his life will take place on Saturday, May 4 at the Olitch home in Pincher Creek, 1105 Morden Avenue from 1:00pm to 4:00pm for friends and relatives to attend.
If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Charles Olitch Memorial Fund at the University of Calgary and sent to the Faculty of Medicine Fund Development Office, 3330 Hospital Drive N.W., Calgary, Alberta, T2N 4N1 (please make cheques payable to University of Calgary ).
