NAUTA Hilda

1924 – 2013
Hilda Thelma Nauta (nee: Poelman) went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on May 4, 2013. She is survived by Archie, her loving husband of sixty-six years, four children, Brian and Christine Nauta, Allen and Barbara Nauta, Randy and Gerry Nauta, and Marilyn and Carl Vanderploeg. Her life was indeed blessed by thirteen grandchildren, and by 27 great grandchildren (“her precious little people”). She is also survived by her sister Annetta Harris of Prince George BC and many nephews and nieces.
Hilda was born on April 1, 1924, on the family farm in the Burdett area. Times were difficult, and in 1926 the family moved back to the Granum area. Hilda attended the Granum school, graduating in 1942. About this time Archie came into her life, and they were married on Nov 25, 1946. They moved to High River to farm in 1950, and spent the rest of Hilda’s life there. She was a farmer’s wife, mother, soother of babies, Sunday school teacher, gardener, cook, fence fixer and jeans patcher. She enjoyed her last occupation the best, that of being a grandma.
The gospel of salvation was dear to Hilda. Her faith was alive and real. She lived her life by God’s grace, conscious of the providence of God. Hospitable and gracious, all were welcomed to her house. “We have been richly blessed in many ways and we thank the Lord for his goodness to us”

“Safe in the arms of Jesus, safe on His gentle breast
There by His love o’ershaded, sweetly my soul shall rest.”

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 10th at 2:00 p.m. at the High River Christian Reformed Church, 450 Macleod Trail, High River with Pastor Paul Droogers officiating, following a family graveside service on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Granum Christian Reformed Church Cemetery.
