1927 ~ 2013
Mrs. Mildred Vila Shackleford of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. Bob Shackleford, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at the age of 85 years, surrounded by her loving family.
Mildred was born on August 10, 1927 in Lethbridge. She lived in Lethbridge for the majority of her life. She enjoyed growing up with her older brother Stan and younger sister Maxine. She went to school in Lethbridge at the old Bowman School and eventual graduating from L.C.I High School. Mildred married her high school sweetheart Bob Shackleford on April 7, 1947. Together they had four children Don, Sherry (Sue), Joe and Tom. They started out in a war time home across from the old municipal hospital, now the Regional Hospital, and then moved into a new house near Patterson School that was filled with 50 years of memories.
Mildred enjoyed volunteering at the Auxiliary Hospital for many years taking care of plants and brightening the resident’s day. She also could be seen in earlier years helping Bob around the theaters.
In earlier years Mildred enjoyed reading. As her eyesight diminished she could still enjoy jigsaw puzzles. Her one regret is she never learned to drive. Mildred was known for her quick wit and sense of humor. Mildred was a stay at home mom who will always be remembered and loved her four children and extended family.
Mildred is survived by her daughter Sherry (Sue) Findlay and her daughter Jennifer; son Don (Betty Zbrodoff) and their son Bradley and Don’s son Derek (Meipsy); son Robert “Joe” and his sons Robert and Patrick; son Tom (Michele) and their children Ryan (Rhea) and Whitney; great-grandchildren Hugo Ubeda (mother Whitney Shackleford), Cameron and Freya Shackleford; sister Maxine Goasdoue of Pincher Creek; brother-in-law Allan Shackleford (Chris); sisters-in-law June Shackleford and Tilly Shackleford; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Besides her beloved husband Bob, Mildred is predeceased by her parents Mary and Ed Neve; brother Stan; sister-in-law Glora Neve; grandchildren Timmy Findlay and Cassandra Shackleford; brother-in-law Doug Shackleford and Ray Goasdoue.

    To the Shackleford family
I am sorry I did not know of your Mom’s passing. She was a fine lady and I always enjoyed talking with her when I would run into her. My time when I was young working at the theaters and meeting her was always a pleasure. I am sure she is now with your dad looking down on all of us. My sincere condolence to you all.
