WEST Daveeda

DAVEEDA DIANN WEST (NEE PUZEY), beloved wife of Rick West of Mountain View, passed away peacefully May 24, 2013. She will be dearly missed and remembered by her husband Rick and their children: Jason (Christina) West, Jocelyn (Talon) Toth, Bradley (Kay) West, and Rebecca (Stephen) Kunn as well as her 11 grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Hannah Puzey and brother David. She is survived by her sisters, Sandra (Wayne) Gedlaman, Sheila Rhodes of Calgaryand sister in-law, Myrna Puzey of Champion.
DaVeeda was born June 5, 1950 in Lethbridgeand was raised in Champion Alberta. She was the youngest of 4 children and enjoyed life on the farm. She often spoke about her adventures with her siblings and her deep love for her parents. Through their examples, she learned the importance of service and charity.
DaVeeda attended the Universityof Calgary where she met and married Rick West on May 29th, 1971 in the Cardston AlbertaTemple. They both completed their degrees in education in Calgary, and 5 years later moved to Cardston, eventually settling and building in Mountain View on the West Valley Ranch in 1981. DaVeeda loved life on the ranch surrounded by family. She enjoyed spending the summers gardening and keeping track of all the ranch kids on their many adventures. Through Rick’s travel business, she was also able to travel and see much of the world.
DaVeeda was a teacher at the Mountain View Schoolfor many years, but her first and foremost role was as a mother to her 4 children. As her children were married, she has been blessed to have 11 grandchildren whom she loved and adored dearly.
DaVeeda has also served faithfully in the LDS church in many roles but especially enjoyed her time serving in the Cardston AlbertaTemple from 2001 to the present. Through her life, DaVeeda touched many lives by serving those in her family and her community. She always went above and beyond to ensure those around her felt loved and appreciated.
Her family extends their appreciation and love to all who have supported them through her battle with cancer. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Jack Ady Cancer Center, Room 2A-102, 960-19 th Street South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 1W5.
The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mountain View, Alberta on Wednesday, May 29th, 2013 at 2:00 p.m.
Friends may meet the family at the Legacy Funeral Home, Cardston on Tuesday, May 28th, 2012 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. or at the Church on Wednesday from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the Service. Interment in the Mountain View Cemetery.
