Beverly Anne Higa, beloved mother of Shawn Higa, passed away at St. Michael’s Palliative Care on Friday June 21, 2013 at the age of 52. Beverly passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer, with family and friends at her side. She is survived by her mother Susan Yachiyo Higa, her son Shawn (father Lyle Waddle and Grandmother Pat Waddle), sisters Kyera Lea (daughter Alecyn), Glenda and John Worne (sons Joel and Christopher), brother Wes Higa and Mary Tanasiuk, Randy Ohno and many special friends. She was predeceased by her father Hiroshi Francis Higa. Beverly was born in Lethbrildge, December 7, 1960 to Sue and Francis Higa. She was educated in Lethbridge, then worked at and eventually co-owned the family business, Higa’s Jewellery, with her brother Wes. In her spare time she enjoyed spending time with family and friends and doing many other interests. Bev loved music, shoes and fashion, beading, jewellery, the art of tattoos, cooking, travelling, comedies and most recently Pinterest on the computer. Bev is deeply loved and missed by her family and friends. She always had a smile for her loved ones, and others needs came before her own, even during her illness. A Celebration of her life will be held at the First United Church, 502 13 St N, Lethbridge, Wednesday June 26, with a viewing at 1 p.m. and a Service following at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Jack Ady Cancer centre or the St. Michael’s Palliative Care.
