FIANDER MORRIS Ailsa

MRS. AILSA FIANDER-MORRIS (neé Macreadie), passed away at the St. Michael’s Palliative Care Centre on Friday, July 12th, 2013 at the age of 74 years after a brave struggle with cancer. Born in Winnipeg, she lived in Glasgow, Montreal, and Dartmouth before moving with her 6 children and 2 cats to Milk River in 1977 when she married Robert Fiander, who predeceased her. A dedicated and loving mother, Ailsa found many ways to keep herself busy, including serving in the Canadian Army, working at McGill University, teaching, writing plays, books (Milk River’s “Search for a Town”), and newspaper articles, volunteering for the Galt Museum, being a County of Warner school trustee, a University of Lethbridge senator, and an EI Appeals Board chair for the Government of Canada. Ailsa highly valued education and public service, and loved learning about the world by travelling or meeting people from other places. Her legacy lives on in her children: Deborah McLean (Lethbridge), Valerie (Gordon) Miller (Milk River), Kenneth McLean (Lethbridge), David (Joanne) McLean (Mississauga, ON), Glenn (Dana) McLean (Drayton Valley), and Kim McLean-Fiander (Victoria, BC).
She will also be missed by her grandchildren Jeralyn & Paul, Tyson, Kale, Zac (Shannon), Lindsay, Hilary, Connor, Spencer, Matthew, Michaela, and the children Kathy (Norb) Wallocha and Phil Morris) of her late husband, Steve Morris. She is also remembered by a special friend, Rose Mankow. We all love you. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge on Monday, July 29, 2013 from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. A Funeral Service will be held at ST. PETER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 321 Main Street, Milk River on Tuesday, July 30th at 11:00 A.M. with Canon Allan McCuaig officiating.
