Posted: September 19th, 2013

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend CONNIE N. PICKLES on August 10, 2013 with her husband and daughters by her side. Connie was born October 29, 1932 in Cardston to Lavinia and LeRoy Leishman. She was their pride and joy as she was their only child that lived to adulthood. Connie enjoyed many friends throughout her childhood, who remain dear friends to this day. Connie was very accomplished. As a young girl she loved sports and excelled in basketball, playing on the Cardston Cougarettes, Alberta Shooting Stars, and also coaching. She was blessed with a beautiful alto voice and sang solos and in trios for many years. She earned her hair dressing certificate and opened a shop, “Konnie Kays”, with her mother in Cardston. Then Connie received her nursing aid certificate, she had found her calling. She worked in Taber for a time and that is where she met Carl Pickles. They married November 28, 1959, and had three daughters: Deborah Jean, Jacqueline L. and Kathryn Lee. Connie served as a dedicated servant in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints wherever she was called. Her last calling was with her husband serving in the Cardston Temple. Connie’s children and grandchildren were her greatest joy. Her favourite pastime was getting together with her family. She was blessed with three daughters and eight grandchildren: Deborah Jean (deceased); Jacqueline (Dan) Pierson and their children: Shauntal (Jared) Byrne, Claiton (Christina) Pierson, Britany (Dexter) Fawcett, Kassandra (Braxton) Fawcett, and Brendan; and Kathryn (Mark) Ervin and their children: Ashton (Amanda) Ervin, Tyler Ervin, and Jesse Ervin. She is also survived by 10 great grandchildren. Connie was predeceased by her parents Lavinia and LeRoy Leishman, infant daughter Deborah Jean Pickles and son-in-law Mark Ervin.
She will be greatly missed. Her legacy of love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, LETHBRIDGE STAKE CENTRE, 2410-28 Street South, Lethbridge.
