VONDA SMITH WILDE ROSANDER gently passed away on Wednesday, August 7th, 2013 in the Raymond Hospital at the age of 88. She was predeceased by her first husband of 35 years, Murray F. Wilde of Welling, AB and her second husband of 21 years, Wallace L. Rosander of Salt Lake City, Utah. She is survived by her four daughters: Kathleen (Keith) Harding of Spruce Grove, Alberta; Debera (James) Kinder of Magrath, Alberta; Mona (Jeff) Bateson of North Salt Lake City, Utah; and Barbara (Kevin) Layton of Owasso, Oklahoma; 14 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. Two step children: Kris (Becky) Rosander and Gayle (Gordon) Fletcher of Salt Lake City, Utah as well as their children and grandchildren. She leaves two brothers and one sister: Grant (Evelyn) Smith of Roswell, New Mexico; Mahlon (Betty) Smith of Calgary, Alberta; and Helen (Keith) Gray of Anaheim, California. Vonda was born January 11th, 1925 in Raymond, the eighth of nine children born to Clarence and Kate (Lee) Smith. She attended school there and later graduated from Business School in Calgary. On May 19th, 1948, she married Murray Wilde of Welling where they farmed for several years before moving to Brooks and Taber, AB where he was employed by the Department of Agriculture. She taught kindergarten in her home for many years. She was always an active and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, holding various callings of leadership and service. After losing her husband to cancer in 1983, she served a mission in the Auckland, New Zealand Temple. On December 31st, 1992, she married Wallace Rosander and lived in Salt Lake City until his death in 2012. Recently, she returned to Alberta and resided for a short time in the Diamond Willow Terrace in Magrath. She was a refined lady who was known for her love of family, music, and service to others. She will be missed by her many dear friends and family. The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Welling Chapel, on Monday, August 12th, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop Michael Orr officiating. Friends may meet the family at the Church from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the Service.
