EVA RUTH CHORNEY McKENZIE, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, September 30, 2013 at the age of 80 years. She was born and raised near Langbank, Saskatchewan and had six brothers and four sisters. She was the first in her family to graduate high school and went on to become a school teacher. Later she worked as Credit Manager at Western Canada Hardware, and Office Manager at Kingsway/Motorways Transport. She married Vic Rude in 1954 and they had three children. In 1977, she married Jim McKenzie. She spent several years volunteering with the figure skating club as test chairman and doing carnival makeup. Ruth created beautiful needlework and enjoyed singing and playing guitar. She was an avid gardener and delighted with every bloom in her flowerbeds. The only thing she relished more was her grandchildren. She was an awesome mother and encouraged her children to pursue their dreams and interests. As children, we have many fond memories of the summer camping vacations that she took us on. She is survived by her three children, Gerry Rude, Grant Rude (Patti), Donna Gerlinsky (Mike) and grandchildren Carling, Lisa and Max. She was predeceased by her parents, four siblings and one granddaughter, Brittany. She will be sadly missed.
Family and friends are invited to an open house in celebration of Ruth’s life at 316 Jerry Potts Boulevard West, Lethbridge, on Friday, October 4, 2013 from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M.
