GASSNER Helen

1924 – 2013 of Lethbridge, passed away on Monday, October 14th at the age of 88 years. Born on October 31, 1924 in Loreburn, SK to Wilbert and Sadye Peardon, a middle child in a family of 14, eight girls and six boys.

Merle preferred to be outside helping with farm chores rather than inside cooking & cleaning. It was Merle & her sister (Norma) to deliver milk around town before school each morning. Married to Don in 1952, she became a devoted mother to her 3 children. A busy farm wife, known for preparing elaborate ‘tailgate’ meals, she still had time to enjoy Royal Purple, Bingo & Curling in Granum & area. Most recently she made her home at the Fairmont Extendicare where she was known for her positive attitude and kindness towards her fellow residents & staff. Beloved wife to Donald Gassner, married 61 years. Loving mother to: Gordon (Donna) Gassner, Larry (Lena) Gassner, Jacolyn (late Robert) Thiessen. Dear Grand-mother to 15 grandchildren & 6 great grandchildren, as well as a sister & aunt to many. At Merle’s request no service will be held.
