Roy is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Logan, Nikayla and Koen. He was predeceased by Joyce, his wife of 55 years, in 2007. Roy was the last surviving sibling of a large family and lived a wonderful 91 years. Roy was born and raised on the family farm near Granum, Alberta, which he farmed until his retirement. He married the love of his life, Joyce (Donahue) in 1952, and raised four children on the same family farm. He was very proud to receive the Century Farm Award from the Province of Alberta earlier this year. His second passion, behind farming, was auctioneering and he operated Roy’s Auction Service for many years across southern Alberta, holding farm, household and government auctions. Roy’s family would like to thank the staff of the Willow Creek Continuing Care Centre in Claresholm where Roy resided for the last three years, for their excellent care and friendship to our father. To the doctors, nurses and staff at the Claresholm General Hospital, thank you for your compassionate care in Roy’s final days. A funeral service will be held at the Granum Lutheran Church on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. with Donna Alm presiding. A private family interment, in the Granum Cemetery, took place prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorial donations, in Roy’s memory, may be made to the charity of your choice.
