NEHER Fay

Posted: November 14th, 2013

FAY COLLEEN NEHER, beloved wife of Gary Neher of Diamond City, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at the age of 67 years.

Mom fought with grace, dignity, and spent her last days at home surrounded by the love of her family. Fay was born in Lethbridge on September 16, 1946 to Mae and Leslie Lewis. Her early years were shared with siblings Roy and Linda on the family farm in Travers, Alberta. In her teen years she met Gary, fell in love, and their life story began. They were married on September 1, 1962 and were blessed with 3 great kids who cherished their mom. Fay was an amazing woman and always made sure everyone was taken care of and comfortable in her home. Mom taught us strong family values and traditions that will guide us through our life’s journey. We all will cherish the memories of many Sunday afternoons spent sitting around the kitchen table or down at the camp kitchen. Fay lived a great life, cherished her many friends, and travelled all over the world. She hiked the Great Wall of China, held a Koala Bear in Australia, went Christmas shopping on the Rhine in Germany, toured the Winter Palace in Russia, rode the roller coaster with her grandchildren in Disneyland, and mom’s favourite trip: cruising the Mediterranean. She dared to live more dreams that most of us will ever. Her spirit will live on through her husband Gary, her children Tobi Horon, Darcy (Lisa) Neher, and Marci (Terry) Schwengler, her grandchildren Braeden, Andrea and Michael Horon, Courtney and Brookelynn Neher, Emily and Abigail Schwengler, her mother Mae Lewis, and her sister Linda (Nick) Zombori. Fay will also be lovingly remembered by Gary’s family. We are going to miss you mom, but we know that you are home with your dad (Leslie), brother (Roy), son-in-law (Greg), and father-in-law (George). Your last lesson to us was to guide us through your illness with strength, courage, and love and for that we are grateful. We love you, until we meet again. A Prayer Service will be held at CHRISTENSEN SALMON GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME, 703 – 13 Street North, Lethbridge, on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at TRINITY UNITED CHURCH, 528 Maple Crescent South, Picture Butte, on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Glenda Wert officiating. Interment will follow in the Archmount Cemetery, West Lethbridge. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Trinity United Church, Box 957 Picture Butte, Alberta.
