September 2, 1936 to November 1, 2013 George Charles Sparrow beloved husband of Irene passed away peacefully on Friday, November 1st, 2013 after a very brief yet courageous battle with cancer at the Chinook Regional Hospital at the age of 77 years.

He was predeceased by his parents and his grandson Adam Park. Besides his loving wife of 52 years, he is survived by his four children, Chris (Sandy) Sparrow and their children Bradie of Rainier, AB and Tye (Willy de Jager) of Brooks, AB; Linda (Keith) Park and their granddaughter McKailyn Ives of Lethbridge, AB; Bev (Greg) Schultz and their children Barrett and Jesse of Red Deer, AB and David (Suzanne) Sparrow and their children Harrison and Emmett of Calgary, AB. He is also survived by two sisters, Joyce (Henry) Friesen of Saskatoon, SK and Sharon (Wolfe) Rauch of Powell River, BC as well as numerous nieces and nephews. George was very active throughout his life and volunteered numerous hours with Lethbridge Minor Hockey as a Board member, coach and referee and Lethbridge Minor Softball as a coach. In later years George was an active member of the Senior Centre and volunteered weekly at the Breakfast program at Wilson Middle School. He loved camping, fishing, skiing, golfing and spent many hours in his wood working shop making various items for friends, family and charities. He was a long time season ticket holder and supporter of the Lethbridge Hurricanes. George’s greatest joys in life was the time spent with his grandchildren supporting them and travelling around the country to cheer them on in all their activities. He had a great love for animals and spent many hours looking after family and friends’ pets as well as his own. He will always be fondly remembered as a very generous, highly respected and proud family man, dad, grandfather, coach, volunteer and mentor. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to all their wonderful friends and family who visited, called and prayed as it certainly made these past few weeks more comforting as well as the wonderful care provided by the staff of Unit 4B at CRH. As per George’s wishes, there will not be a funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lethbridge SPCA, if so desired.
