Garth Ryan Jensen, beloved son of Garth and Barbara Jensen of Stirling, passed away in Edmonton on Monday, December 23, 2013 at the age of 33 years. Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 413 – 3 Street, Stirling on Thursday, January 2, 2014 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. and also at the church prior to the funeral service on Friday, January 3, 2014 between 1:00 P.M. and 1:40 P.M. The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 413 – 3 Street, Stirling on Friday, January 3, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. with Bishop Lamar Wilde conducting. Besides his loving parents Garth and Barbara, Ryan is survived by his two sisters and their families, Heather (Chad) Rausch of Okotoks and their four children Ella, Mason, Tyson and Deacon and Janene Jensen of Stirling and her two children Mackenzie and Mayna Watson. He is also survived by his grandmothers Gene Duce of Cardston, Alice Haynes of Taber and by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandfathers Richard Bowden, Arley Jensen and two step grandfathers, Del Duce and Grant Haynes. Ryan was born in Taber on October 28, 1980. He was the third child born to Garth and Barbara Jensen. He spent the first five and a half years of his life in Taber. Ryan attended kindergarten at Dr. Hamman Elementary School for almost a full year before the family of five moved to Milk River. In August of 1986, the Jensens moved to Bow Island where he completed grade one. Another move in September of 1987 brought Ryan and his family to Stirling. Grade two in Stirling with Mrs. Hogenson as his teacher was a highlight in his life. Mrs. Hogenson helped set the stage for his lifelong quest for knowledge. Many teachers at the Stirling school helped with his education and he graduated grade twelve in 1998. Ryan worked at the Prince of Wales Hotel in Waterton for a summer before he moved to Edmonton. He spent a year in Edmonton before serving a two year mission in Chicago, Illinois with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Upon his release, he returned to Stirling for a short while and then headed back to Edmonton where he has resided since, where he was employed with Shaw Communications. Ryan loved music and was knowledgeable in all genres. His music, kindness, mischievous sense of humour and love of all people, endeared him to many. He will be missed by his family and many friends.
