Posted: January 30th, 2014

It is with great sadness that we say good-bye to ANNIE SCHLOTZER, beloved wife of the late Michael Schlotzer. Our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at the age of 89 years surrounded by her family on Sunday, January 26th 2013 at St. Therese Villa. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Erika (Pete) Bosters and Annemarie (Ed) Thiessen, her grandchildren Kristopher (Leanna) Bosters, Daniel (Heather) Bosters, James and Evan Thiessen and two great grandsons Joshua and Zachary Bosters. She is also survived by her niece and nephews, Johann (Rosi) Kremenik, Elizabeth (Peter) Kiefer, George Stimatz, Frank Freihaut and their families. She was predeceased by her husband Michael, her parents Anton and Katharina Magosch, her sisters Eva Kremenik and Katharina Schunk , her niece Kathy Freihaut and stillborn twin granddaughters. Annie was born on July 11, 1924 in Croatia, the youngest of three daughters. In 1944 her family moved to Austria where she married Michael Schlotzer in 1950 and in May of 1953 they immigrated to Canada. Mom was a very gifted seamstress and worked at St. Michael’s hospital for many years sewing for the Sisters of St. Martha and the student nursing program. She also used her talents sewing draperies at Gast’s/Designer’s Furniture Gallery. She also spent many hours sewing treasured clothing and in her retirement quilted and crocheted beautiful projects for her family. Gardening was one of her passions and the treasures of her harvest found their way into her cooking and our fridges. This love of cooking and baking led to the sharing of secret family recipes that have stood the tests of time. She also loved giving one-on-one cooking and baking lessons to the four hungry grandsons who were the greatest joy of her life. Mom was a woman of great faith and enjoyed singing in the St. Basil’s Church choir. She took pride in being a lifetime member of the Catholic Women’s League. A Prayer Vigil Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, Alberta on Friday, January 31st 2014 at 7:00 P. M.
