Deborah “Deb” Jane Hlady of Coaldale, beloved wife of Bruce Hlady, passed away peacefully in the presence of family/friends after a brief and courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at the age of 49 years. Deb was born May 14, 1964 in Belfast, Ireland; daughter of Samuel and Violet and sister to Jackie. When she was 2, Deb and her family moved to Canada. Deb had a long list of hobbies, she enjoyed bowling, darts, karaoke, watching children play hockey, other family endeavors, and travelling. She loved socializing with people within the community which mirrored her career choices. She worked at the Ventura Hotel and the local food market; she also worked at the post office where she grew to know and love all the people that crossed her path. For the last 5 years, she worked at St. Therese as a personal care assistant where she compassionately cared for the residents that live there. Her sudden passing leaves a void not only in her family and friends but also in the community she loved. Besides her loving husband Bruce Hlady, Deb is survived by her two daughters Jessica (Jared) and Jennifer; her two sons Timothy (Ashley) and David; grandchildren Brady and Kaelan; her sister Jackie (Keith) and her mother Violet Colvin. She was predeceased by her father Samuel Colvin. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, February 10, 2014 at the COALDALE MENNONITE CHURCH, 2316 17th Street, Coaldale, with Mr. Darrin Parkin officiating.
