June Kanomata, beloved wife of the late Joe Kanomata, passed away in Lethbridge on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at the age of 74 years. At June’s request, a private funeral service was held at Southland Funeral Chapel, Taber. A private burial service followed at the Taber Memorial Garden. June is survived by her children Sandra (Garth) Blades of Drayton Valley and Calvin Kanomata (Marilyn) of Taber; granddaughter Taylor Miyoshi Blades and grandson Zachary George Blades. She is also survived by her siblings Lois (Yosh) Hattori of Picture Butte, Dick (Carol) Sawa of Lethbridge, Diana (Sal) Nakamura of Red Deer, Roy (Jackie) Sawa of Lethbridge, Sharon (Tom) Takahashi of Toronto, Ontario, Larry Sawa of Red Deer, Pat (Doug) Smith of Toronto, Ontario and Harry Sawa of Red Deer; sister-in-law Audrey Sawa (Tracy) of Nanaimo and brother-in-law Gerry Bossenkool of Lethbridge. She is also survived by Joe’s family, his brother Gary (Jane) Kanomata of Toronto, sisters Rosemary (Kay) Kitagawa of Lethbridge and Wendy Ridsdale of England, sister-in-law Mae Kanomata of Taber and by numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Usaburo and Chizuko Sawa and Joe’s parents, Kiyoshi and Miyoshi Kanomata; brother Daniel Sawa, sister Mae Boessenkool; brother-in-law Charlie Kanomata, sisters-in-law Molly Matsumoto, "little" Carol Sawa and brothers-in-law George Matsumoto and Jeff Ridsdale. June was born June 25, 1939 in Stave Falls, British Columbia. She married Joe Kanomata in Taber on December 17, 1958. June enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. By request, Koden gratefully declined.
