Ernst “Hank” Besseling, beloved husband of Margaret Besseling, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side, on Sunday April 27, 2014 at the age of 79 years. Hank was born in Denhelder, Netherlands October 22, 1934 to his parents Johan and Gertrude Besseling. He immigrated to Canada March 16, 1955 and married the love of his life Margret (Pownall) in 1957 and had just celebrated their 57thwedding anniversary in March. Hank worked for Alberta Government Services for 35 years before his retirement and kept busy afterwards fishing, camping, gardening, tinkering in the garage and fine tuning his beloved 1977 Ford Truck. Hank will be sadly missed by all that knew him. Hank is survived by his wife Margaret and his four children Adella (Larry) Boulton, Gordon (Tzena), Linda and Alan. Hank also has four grandchildren Nicole Roberts, Matthew Boulton, Lauren and Gregory, and two great grandchildren Corbin Roberts and Aveya Aiken. Hank is also survived by brother Rudy Besseling of Gabriola Island and sister Henny Hamelink of Den Oever, Netherlands as well as nieces and nephews. At Hank’s request there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in Hank’s memory to the Jack Ady Cancer Centre 960-19 Street S, Lethbridge, AB, T1J 1W5 would be appreciated.
