“For the eyes of the Lord are intently watching all who live good lives, and he gives attention when they cry to him.” Psalm 34:15 On Sunday April 27, 2014 Wemeltje “Willy” Wevers passed away in Lethbridge at St. Michael’s Health Care Center at the age of 82. Willy was born in Zevenhuizen, the Netherlands and moved to Canada with her parents and sibling as a young adult, working for a brief period at the Lethbridge Galt Hospital. Willy the loving wife of Gerrit Jan Wevers for 59 years, a dedicated mother raising a family of five children in Lethbridge, enjoyed her twelve grandchildren and delighted in her nine great-grand children. Willy is survived by her five children John Wevers (Carole), Joe Wevers (Lori), Anita Kennedy (Larry), Ivan Wevers (Pam), Elizabeth Moradel (Jose); her grandchildren Duane Wevers (Kim), Daryl Wevers (Kari), Deric, Heather Holinaty (Damien), Jordan Wevers (Sarah), Alan James Kennedy (Jennifer), Nathan Wevers, Joseph Moradel (Jodene), Daniel Wevers (Ashley), Evan Moradel (Loralynn), Emily Wevers, Lily Moradel (Chris); her great -grandchildren Jaeda, Jullien, Jordynn Moradel, Billie and Jett Kennedy, Caitlan and Lyla Holinaty, Landon and Hayden Wevers. Willy is survived by her siblings, Eike (Bill) Van Spronsen, Marilyn Bookless, Jane (Steve) Petrovich, and John Hummel. She is also survived by in-laws Rita (Corny) Biesbroek, Alice Schenk, Ann (John) Lubbers, Aleida Konynenbelt, John Vos, Ben (Sylvia)Wevers, Derk Wevers, Lynne (Chuck) Haines, Nellie (Elroy) Nieboer, Martin Wevers, and Mike (Helen) Wevers; as well many nieces and nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her parents John and Ida Hummel, her parents -in-law Jan and Willemina Wevers, brother Bill Hummel and sister Riek Hummel, sisters-in-law Jackie Poole, Berna Vos, Henny Wevers, Peggy Wevers, brothers-in-law Joe Schenk, Arie Konynenbelt, and Alan Poole. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 7:00pm and 9:00pm on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4th Street South, Lethbridge, AB. A Graveside Service will be held at 12:30pm on Friday, May 2, 2014 at MOUNTAIN VIEW CEMETERY with a Funeral Service to follow at 2:00pm at MARANATHA CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH, 260 McGill Blvd. West, Lethbridge with Pastor Tony Maan, officiating. Willy enjoyed the creativity of sewing, knitting and darning, and spent many hours helping with the gathering of wool in her recent years for ‘Blankets for Canada’.
