VOORT Sharon

Posted: September 26th, 2014

SHARON ANN VOORT (nee Stotyn) cherished wife of Tony Voort of Lethbridge, Alberta joined her beloved Jesus for a walk in our Lord’s garden on September 23, 2014. Sharon is also lovingly remembered by her children Nancy (Roger) Metz, Kathy Voort (Keith) and David Voort in Lethbridge, her grandchildren Tannon, Sera and Skyla, her mother Lena, her brothers Cal (Liz) and Len (Wanda) and sisters Doreen Stoytn, and Yvonne (Kerry) Peters, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and many dear friends. Sharon was a very large part of the St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. She loved her church family and enjoyed many years teaching and as Superintendant of the Sunday school. She shared her love of music with the choir and enjoyed spending time with her special group of friends, singing their favourite hymns to the tune of a guitar or piano, on Sunday mornings. Her love was spread through the lyrics of melody and she touched us all to the final note. Sharon and Tony raised their family and spent a lot of time outdoors. They often took their children on long camping trips, teaching them of creatures great and small while hiking through mountains, boating and swimming. When their three grandchildren were born, the outdoors was introduced to them and they were often found snuggled around a campfire sharing stories about life and love. Sharon’s love of nature was expressed in the beauty of her own home. Tony and Sharon spent many hours creating their oasis; her gardens blooming from early spring to late fall. Their waterfall and the song of birds was a place of grace where family and friends often gathered. Sharon is welcomed in heaven by Chris Stotyn (father), Sylvia Law (sister), Henk & Gerrie Voort (in-laws), Anne Voort (sister-in-law), Gus Vander Linden (brother-in-law) and Roger Vander Linden (nephew). A Service of Remembrance will be held at ST. ANDREW’S PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 1818 — 5th Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB., on Monday, September 29th, 2014 at 2:00 P.M., with Reverend Hugh Jack officiating. A private interment will be held prior to the service. Donations in Sharon’s memory can be made to St. Michael\’s Foundation, Palliative Care Unit, 1400 -9th Avenue South, Lethbridge, Alberta T1J 4V5. or to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 1818 – 5th Avenue South, Lethbridge, T1J 0W6
