It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of JIMMY "Aakahkoo" MILLS/CHIEF CALF on September 25th, 2014 at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his children: Christy (Blaine) Tailfeathers, Lance (Dixie) Jerry, Charles Tex Mills/Red Crow, Virginia Susan Red Crow; grandchildren: Shaliya Jamie Tailfeathers, Jenna Jerry, Jeremy Jerry and Brenden James (Little Man) Tailfeathers; siblings Alvin/Jake Mills, Connie (Bob) Fox, Anita Joyce Demarsh, Cheryl (Louis) Beebe; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; maternal aunt Emma Red Gun,; paternal aunt Irene McHugh, Mary Twigg; adopted brothers and sisters: Calvin/Red Chief Calf, Joanne (Brian R) Healy, Carma (William) Crow Chief, Corolla Bruised Head, Lena Small Legs and Lloyd (Karen) McHugh, Geraldine Shade. James attended St. Paul’s Indian Residential School and graduated at St. Mary’s High School; James accepted a scholarship to Grant McEwan College in Edmonton, AB – always an athlete, James excelled in many sports, primarily boxing and basketball. As a member of the Poor Boys Boxing Club, James won: The Outstanding Boxer, Kainai Gloves Championship. He attended a Boxing Tournament in Missoula, Montana. Upon playing basketball with his teammates, he received the nickname "Crimson" by Bill Shade. Jimmy was predeceased by his parents, Jimmy Chief Calf and Virginia Mills; loving daughter, Jamie Lee Red Crow; sisters Bonnie Mills, Bernice White Man, Teresa Mary Mills; brother Derek Tall Man; maternal grandparents Buster and Eva Mills; paternal grandparents Albert and Mary Chief Calf; maternal aunts Loretta Manyfingers, Gloria Shade, Maryrose Manyfingers, Edith Little Child, Liza Mills; maternal uncles, Christopher Mills, Richard Mills, Franco Mills; paternal aunts, Maude Knife, Helen (Frank) Eagle Tail Feathers; paternal uncle John (Christine) Chief Calf, Leo McHugh; special cousins, Curtis Mills, Ken Knife, Bill Knife, Marlene Mountain Horse, Debra Healy and Charlie Twigg. Jimmy enjoyed being in the presence of his children and grandchildren and loved being in the company of his extended family and friends. A Wake Service will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Blood Reserve on Wednesday, October 1st, 2014 from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Blood Reserve on Thursday, October 2nd, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Interment in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Blood Reserve.
