MACHIELSE Johanna

It is with heavy hearts that we announce JOHANNA FRANCESCA MACHIELSE, of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 4th, 2014 at the age of 82 years. Johanna will be dearly missed by her husband John Machielse who has been by her side for over 58 years. Leaving family and friends in the Netherlands to build a dream in Canada, she embraced this wholeheartedly. She was a working partner in a successful mixed farm operation. Johanna spent many hours on a tractor and was active in all aspects of production. John and Johanna have six loving children and their spouses; Hennie (Wayne), Annelise (Robert deceased), Mary (Bill) , Matthew (Jennifer), Cathy (Bob), John Paul (Stephanie). Johanna was also a caring Oma to 13 grandchildren . Johanna\’s greatest joy was spending time with her family. Her grandchildren have many memories of time spent with Oma enjoying life on the farm, camping in the motorhome and time going on trips together. Johanna had a true love of gardening. Her many friends were always impressed at her gardening skills which she passed on to many of her children. The garden was a special place and it brought her comfort and pride. She loved to see it evolve through the seasons. A Prayer Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB., on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at 7:00 P.M. with Francis & Cybele Noronha leading. A Memorial Mass will be Celebrated at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2405 – 12 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB., on Monday, November 10, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. with Father Roque Pereira, Celebrant. A private interment to follow for immediate family. A light lunch will also be served shortly after the Monday service. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation be provided to St.Michaels Health Centre Palliative Care Unit, 1400 9th Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB, T1J 4V5.
