It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of GODFREY JASE "GJ" RED CROW Jr. on Friday, January 23, 2015 at the age of 35. GJ was predeceased by Terri Lee and daughter Josie; grandfathers Fredrick Red Crow and Herbert First Rider, and his auntie Lucille Red Crow. Godfrey Jr. was raised on the Blood Indian Reserve where he was known to everyone as GJ. GJ was an outgoing and very loving and caring individual. GJ graduated from St. Mary’s Kainai High School in 1997. He furthered his post secondary education at the Lethbridge Community College in the Criminal Justice Program, Hilltop Security Academy and Trade Winds to Success in Calgary AB. He later completed training with BTEST on the Fort McKay project. GJ gained employment with Steeple Jack Services and was very proud to have worked on the construction crew of the new 58-storey Calgary Bow Tower, where he was also part of the Alberta Regional Council of Carpenters and Allied Workers Local 2103. As a youngster, GJ loved sports and played with the Kainai Flames hockey team, basketball with Kainai Eagles and football with the Kainai Warriors. He also enjoyed fishing, watching wrestling and cheering on his Calgary Flames. GJ loved to tease and make everyone laugh and was quite the character and was always the life of the party. GJ always carried a straight face when he had something up his sleeve, while pulling a practical joke on family and friends. He loved his country music and enjoyed singing along. Once GJ became your friend, you had a friend for life. Rest now GJ, your pain is no more, you are not gone, just safely tucked away in our hearts. We will always love you.
