1920 ~ 2015
Mabel (Vaage) Jordan of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Bernard Jordan, passed away on March 2, 2015 at the age of 94 years. Together Mabel and Bernard raised their four children, Reg, Wendy, Trudy and Randy at their home where friends and family were always welcome. Born on August 13, 1920 in Norway, she was proud of her Norwegian heritage but was especially proud of being a Canadian and an Albertan, loving the brilliant sunshine, blue sky and wind-swept prairie of southern Alberta. Mom always led an active life and could be seen moving at a brisk pace along sidewalks and through corridors. Her life was full of love and laughter, conversation and spirited discussion. A hard worker, devoted to family and friends, she had a strong social conscience and worked for the betterment of others less fortunate. The lessons we learned from Mom are about the value of hard work, honesty, strength, compassion and obligation; the wisdom of moderation and occasional intemperance; as well as dedication to family and society. She demonstrated the importance of humor along with the values of thrift and generosity. For these things among many, many others we are very grateful to Mom and she will be forever remembered and missed. She was preceded by her husband, Bernard in 1991, close friend Trev Ianson in 2008, daughter-in-law, Judy Jordan in 1997, and siblings Agnes, Edna, Alfred and Erling. Mabel is lovingly remembered by her family Reg and Ann of Markham, Ontario, Wendy and Remie Benoit of Lethbridge, Trudy and Kent Douglas of Vancouver and Randy and Carla of Morinville, Alberta; grandchildren, Darren and Becki of Taipei, Taiwan, Kelly and Jude of Toronto, Tyler and Isabel of Squamish, Ryan and Mayté of Markham; great grandchildren, Chloe, Eli, Jeremy, Zack, Evie, Emma Mabel, Zoe and Erik. Also close were Andy and Aimée Benoit of Lethbridge and their children Nicolas, Dominic and Julien. Thank you to the staff at Edith Cavell Care Centre, WE Care/Greystoke, Dr. Yamashita and Dr. Majiet for the care given and a special thanks to Sue Spencer for her visits, laughter, stories and support. They are special people. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 10:00 am at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610- 4 Street South. Lethbridge, AB.
