GRAY Lorne

LORNE DONALD GRAY, beloved companion and best friend of Lynne Tuff, passed away at St. Michaels Palliative Care on March 23, 2015 at the age of 70 years. Lorne is survived by his daughters Kari (Brad) Dodds of Calgary, Alberta and Jody (Jason) Moore of Nashville, Tennessee and five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Left to mourn also, are Lorne’s brothers Jerry (Donna) Gray and Wayne (Bev) Gray and their respective families. Lorne will also be missed by his extended family Penny Harris (Richard Mayfield), Stacey (Glenn) Preddy, Tate (Ruthai) Shimozowa and their families along with sister and brother-in-law Dale and Lee Sherwood and family. Lorne was predeceased by his parents Marjorie and Henry Gray and so many dear friends he grew up with. Lorne was born in Lethbridge on April 18, 1944 and all his life he was an avid hockey player and fan. During the years 1960 through 1971 he won almost every award available. Golf was his other passion. He just needed a little more time to make it on the PGA Tour. The last few years his “big screen” kept him in the game…… almost any game! He loved the quote “winning isn’t everything…it’s the only thing”. Sadly, his last battle was not to be won. Through this lengthy battle, there are many people to thank. The doctors and staff at Tom Baker were fantastic, with special thank you to Dr. Banergee. While in Calgary, we could never have negotiated the city and the medical system without the help of Lorne’s niece, Shelly Soucy. During Lorne’s brief stay in St. Michaels, the care was exceptional and Dr. Ireland was an angel. Friends and relatives are invited to pay their respects to the family at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME – 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB. on Thursday, March 26th, 2015 from 12:00 – 1:30 P.M. A Private Family Interment will be held at Mountain View Cemetery following. Flowers are gratefully declined and if you wish donation can be made to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre – 1331 29 Street Northwest, Calgary, AB T2N 4N2 or to St. Michaels Health Centre – Palliative Care Unit – 1400 9 Ave S, Lethbridge, AB T1J 4V5.
