OSTAFICIUK NancyPosted: November 27th, 2015
It is with great sadness that the family of NANCY FAY OSTAFICIUK (nee Horn), announce her passing on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at the age of 91.
Nancy is survived by her son William (Mona) of West Kelowna and daughter Suzanne (Shane) of Strathmore; sister Lu of Barrhead; sister-in-law Victoria of Lethbridge; granddaughters Sheri (Mat) and Cindy; great-granddaughters Brynn, Amy and Jordan as well as nieces and nephews.
Nancy was predeceased by her son Lawrence (1971) in a military training accident and her husband of 66 years, William (2012).
Nancy was born in Rockyford, Alberta and grew up in the Barrhead area. In 1943, she enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force (WAC) and served until the end of WWII. Nancy met William in Calgary while they were waiting for delistment. They were married in 1946. William and Nancy moved to Taber where they established a farm machinery sales business. In 1950, they moved to the Ostaficiuk family farm, east of Vauxhall, where they raised three children in the healthy surroundings of the country. Nancy worked hard caring for her family, house and garden as well as working alongside William, making the farm a successful operation.
William and Nancy retired to Lethbridge in 1974. Although she missed the country, Nancy enjoyed her retirement years doing needle craft and gardening. She was an avid reader and kept her mind young and agile by doing puzzles of all kinds. Her favourite flowers always provided joy to her and delight to her neighbours. Her house was lovingly decorated with her many needlework projects. Nancy was rich with love from her family and friendship from all who knew her.
