MANDEVILLE

Nov. 3, 1931 – Jan. 5, 2016

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of PEARL VICTORIA MANDEVILLE at the youthful age of 84. After a brief but courageous battle with cancer, Pearl passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends at St. Michael’s Health Centre, Palliative Care Unit. She was predeceased by husband Harold Mandeville, son-in-law Neil Pederson, parents Edna and Reg Cansdale, sister Margaret (Norm) Stuppard, brother Reg Cansdale, brothers-in-law Bob Magrath and Cecil Braaten. Those left to mourn her are: son Bryan, daughter Vicky, grandchildren Travis, Julie and Chase, sisters Betty-Anne Magrath and Dorothy Braaten, brother-in-law Fred Mandeville, sister-in-law Dixie Lockhart, as well as all those who were like family to Pearl and are too many to name.

Pearl has been an accomplished cowgirl, devoted wife and mother, and doting grandmother. She will be lovingly remembered for her fashionable style, her grace, and her beauty inside and out. Pearl had the biggest heart, which allowed her love to reach out not only to her real family, but also her rodeo family. She was an icon in the rodeo world, being inducted into the Canadian Rodeo Hall of Fame in 2015 after her husband Harold who was inducted in 1998. After 58 years of marriage, Harold was undoubtedly used to waiting for his wife and will surely be happy to greet her at Heaven’s gate after waiting there for her since 2008.

Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects prior to the Funeral Service at ST. AUGUSTINE’S ANGLICAN CHURCH – 411 – 11th Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta on Monday, January 11th, 2016 from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M.

The Funeral Service will immediately follow the Visitation at ST. AUGUSTINE’S ANGLICAN CHURCH, at 11:00 A.M. with Canon James Robinson officiating.

For those who wish to attend, the Interment will follow the luncheon at Archmount Cemetery.

In memory of Pearl and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA, c/o Bryan Mandeville – 4400 4th Avenue South, Lethbridge, Alberta, T1J-4B3.

  1. Barbara Huston and family says:

We are so sorry to receive news, while out of the country, of our much loved Pearl’s passing. This is the passing of an era in our lives, and that of our family’s, that brought us deepest joy and friendship, and now the sorrow of loss. We are holding you in heart and mind, are sorry not to be closer to you in person, but you know the Love and esteem that are wrapping you now, and Pearl on her journey to other arms that hold her so dearly.

  2. BettyAnne McGrath says:

It is very hard to believe she is gone as she looked so good and very proud to be inducted into the cowboy hall of fame. She wii be with the love of her life Harold and I am sure it was hard for her to leave all of her family as she loved them all dearly but will be in piece. As she always said to me when talking on the phone good by and love you to her little sister. Take care Vickey and Bryan and your family.

  3. Jerri Duce says:

Bryan & Vicky, my prayers & thoughts are with you. It is so hard to lose your mom. I have great memories of Pearl barrel racing, back when I was a kid just starting. I remember how beautiful she was & how I wanted to grow up to be like her. She had a smile for everyone. Beauty & brains, she had it all.
