Viola Arkinstall

1931 – 2016

Viola May Arkinstall, loving wife of the late Allan Arkinstall, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 16, 2016 at the age of 85 years, just 1 week after her birthday; May 9.

Viola is survived by her son Everett and her daughter Valerie as well and many friends.

She was a proud, active lady in her working life and her extensive volunteering with Girl Guides of Canada, Nord-Bridge Seniors, The Salvation Army, and the Seniors 55+ Senior Games serving as president with the games and Nord-Bridge Senior Centre. She enjoyed participating in the senior recreational games, winning several medals. She was also a LSCO member. Viola was a people person, enjoying sincere friendships.

Vi was a cook for many years with both the Green Acres Foundation, and the Auxiliary Hospital. After she retired, Viola and Allan volunteered managing The Salvation Army Thrift Store in Taber and then in Lethbridge. She was a tireless worker in her leadership with the Ladies Home League and League of Mercy. She was also a Lethbridge Hurricane hockey season ticket holder and enjoyed going to the games.

Over the past few months as her health declined, the good Lord saw her getting tired and called her home. She is indeed in peace with her husband Allan.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 1510 2 Ave S, Lethbridge, AB T1J 0G1, the Nord-Bridge Seniors Centre, 1904 13 Avenue North, Lethbridge, AB T1H 4W9, the Salvation Army Church, 1302 4 Ave S, Lethbridge, AB or a charity of your choice – just because Viola cared for others.

Thanks to the Park Meadows Village – Cottage 6 staff for their care and compassion toward Viola.
