WURTZ

Our beloved husband, dad, grandpa and great grandpa, JACOB G. “JAKE” WURTZ, went home to be with his Saviour on Thursday, June 23rd, 2016 at the age of 83 years. He was surrounded by his loving family who will cherish his memory.

He is survived by his wife of more than 58 years, Minnie, his daughters Brenda (Jerry), Karen, Diane (Ron) as well as his precious grandchildren, Dini (John), Sandra, Ryan (Terena), and Monique and his beloved great-grandchildren, Madison, Jaden, Jonathan, Thea and Lauton. He is also survived by his brother John and his sister Elizabeth and many nieces and nephews.

He was pre-deceased by his mom and dad, Mary and George, and his brothers and sisters, George, Mary, Andy, Annie and Joe.

Jake was born near Magrath on January 16th, 1933 and raised in rural Southern Alberta. The majority of his career was spent working at Noble Cultivators. He spent many years on the consistory of Monarch Reformed Church. He worked as a volunteer firefighter for the Nobleford Fire Department.

He was a caring man who loved his family very much and worked hard to support them. He especially adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jake loved fishing, playing pool, visiting with friends at the mall (lunch counter), searching the summer fallow for arrowheads with his father-in-law Gerrit and playing his harmonica.

We will miss his sense of humour, his encouraging smile and hugs, his phone calls, his singing, his harmonica playing and his prayers for all of us. Heaven’s gain is our loss. Dad was well loved.

Our family wishes to send a sincere and heartfelt thank you to the nurses and doctors at Chinook Regional Hospital who looked after dad with kindness and respect.

A Come and Go Visitation with family will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB on Monday, June 27, 2016, from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Jake’s life will be held at the MONARCH REFORMED CHURCH on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. with Reverends Bob Derrick and Roger Halverson officiating.

So sorry for for loss. I did not know and just found his death notice this morning. Jake had a special and kind heart I know you will all miss him dearly.

  2. Ron Wutke says:

My condolences to your family on Jake’s passing. I used to work with him at Crestbrook Forest Industries and remember him as a good man, who I had the honor of partnering up with for awhile, near the end of our time there. I came across a newspaper clipping with a picture of us together after they announced the closing of the plant, and it lead to my finding out of his passing. Sorry for your loss.
