VERNON CARL JOHNSON was born on March 7, 1930 in Lethbridge, AB at the Galt Hospital. He passed away on Monday, July 11, 2016 at the Chinook Regional Hospital at the age of 86 years. Vern has a huge family that he loved. He had five daughters: Jennifer, Heather, Cindy, Cheryl and Sandra. He also has 13 grandchildren: Nicole, Justin, Ryan, Cody, Jessica, Cameron, Cyi, Jessie, Skylar, Joshua, Chevy, Robin, and Cassidy. Vern was also very happy to spend time with his great grandchildren: Tristan, Rilen, Violet, Brooklynn and Bentley. He also cherished their mothers: Kathleen, Destinee, Mikayla, and Melissa. He was also proud to have his sons-in-law: Russell Hollar, Maxie Peterson, Steven Hawryluk, and Ryan Harcus. Vern was a proud son of his late parents, Emily and Carl Johnson. He is also predeceased by Hazel Johnson/Kequahtooway, Robert Lumley, and Jennifer Across the Mountain/Johnson. He is survived by his brothers Roy Johnson, Allen Johnson, and his wife Shirley and family, along with his late sister Dorothy and Peter Bobaish. In his earlier days he liked ranching in the foothills, riding the freight cars, working in the mills and lumber-jacking. He also enjoyed going boating with his brother Roy to Waterton Park. He looked forward to taking his family, guns and camper on trips to the foothills. He also loved his Sunday car rides in the country and appreciated his scenic view from his penthouse. The family and loved ones would like to show their gratitude and appreciation to the doctors, nurses and respiratory staff who showed compassion to Vern in his last moments in life. A special thanks to Dr. Donald Gibb, St. Therese home and Chinook Regional Hospital.
