The Family of VIRGINIA BELLE WESLEY SLOAN (PETERSON) said good bye to their 95 year old cherished mother on November 6, 2016. Mother went to join her eternal companion Kenneth Leon Peterson who left us so early in 1982. Mom is also predeceased by her second husband Frank Sloan, sons Dwight and Brian, son-in-law Myron Eaves. She is survived by children Kenneth (Maxine); Susan (Leonard); Janet; Mary-Ellen (Mont). Mom left this world in the comfort of her own home in Cardston surrounded by those who loved and cared for her. She also leaves to mourn her 33 grandchildren and her 52 great grandchildren.

Mom was born in Orion, Alberta to Frank and Ruth (Hayes) Wesley and was later raised by Frank and Ruth (Pelham) Wesley. She attended school until grade 9 in a one room school house in Owen, AB. At an early age she worked as a domestic helper for various individuals and cooked for large harvest crews. She met and married Kenneth Peterson in 1941. They farmed together at Craddock until Dads’ passing in 1982 after which she rented the farm. She married Frank Sloan of Cardston in 1984 and spent many happy years together until his passing in 1998. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her crowning achievement was being a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. Mother had many talents and abilities among which were sewing, painting, needle work , raising beautiful gardens and flowers and most of all being a great homemaker. She and dad shared many passions including curling, baseball, dancing and going to Arizona in the winters. She influenced many people in her life and was always willing to extend a helping hand to help those in need. She was a special person to many.

Special thanks to the amazing caregivers who have attended to mother through the years especially Liezel and Marsha.

The Funeral Service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Temple Street Chapel, on Saturday, November 12th at 1:00 p.m. Friends may meet the family from 12:00-12:45 p.m. prior to the service. She will be laid to rest in the family plot at Stirling at 4:30.
