1942 – 2016

BILL BUCKMAN, 74, of Picture Butte, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, November 7, 2016.

He was born on November 2, 1942 in Lethbridge to Henry “Slim” and Katherine “Katie” and lived all his life in the Barrhill/Picture Butte area.

Dad was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and camping. He was a lifetime member of the Picture Butte Fish & Game and a 50 year member of the Elks Club in Picture Butte. Dad was a genuine farmer at heart and every year looked forward to helping Brian and Robin during seeding, harvest, feeding the crew or just going for coffee with the boys. Dad also worked for the Picture Butte Sugar Factory and the Town of Picture Butte for many winters.

Dad was extremely loving and proud of his kids Shelly (Rob) and Brian (Robin) as well as his three grandkids, Cayli (Chris), Brendan and Holly. His family meant the world to him and he loved being part of everything we all did. We will truly miss him.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to many medical staff: Dr. Canu, Dr. Low, Dr. Wilson & Tanya, Dr. Shukkoor & Carla, Dr. MacEachern, Dr. Dumoulin, Dr. Flemons and the staff on Unit 61 at the Foothills Hospital, Home Care staff & Mona and the entire Jack Ady Cancer Centre; all of you showed such kindness, compassion and care. Most of all, we are so very grateful for Dr. Oviatt for all the kindness and exceptional care shown to our Dad; he sincerely appreciated you!

In memory of our Dad, donations may be made to the Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation, c/o Jack Ady Cancer Centre, 960 – 19 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta T1J 1W5.
