Denise Calpas (Skretting)

1963 – 2016

Mrs. Denise Jean Calpas of Lethbridge, beloved wife of Mr. Bryan Calpas, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at the age of 53 years. Denise was born in Lethbridge and spent the majority of her life here. She graduated from the Lethbridge Community College and received a diploma in Applied Arts in 1984. She was employed at London Drugs for a number of years until illness forced her to quit. Denise loved all animals, especially horses and cats, and adopted many strays over the years. She loved to read, puzzles, music and singing, paint by numbers, and colouring. She was a prolific writer and left many binders of poems, quotes and stories. She loved photography and won many awards. Denise was very giving and supportive and loved to laugh. Besides her loving husband Bryan, Denise will be remembered and dearly missed by her mother Dianne Skretting; her sister Karyn Jarvis-Mehrer (Jeff); her brothers Danny Skretting (Lisa); and Jeremy Reirson; special nephew Tyler Jarvis; and nieces Chelsea Jarvis and Shyla Caldwell (Keith). She is also survived by Bryan’s family, mother and father-in-laws John and Juli Calpas; brother-in laws Greg (Suzane), Loren, Ron and Ken Calpas. Denise was predeceased by her grandparents Grandma Julie, Hans and Mary Skretting; brother in law Ken Jarvis; her dog Utah; her cat Greyson and many other animals that went before them. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 1:00pm and 2:00pm on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610-4 St. S., Lethbridge, AB. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL. As per the family’s wishes, please dress casual for the service. Denise battled many illnesses over the years including Breast Cancer. She fought through them all but could no longer fight. We know now that she is finally free of pain. Rest in Peace our dear Denise, we will miss your beautiful loving soul. This is not goodbye- we will meet again. Flowers are gratefully declined.
