Catherine “Cathy” Margaret Poole of Bow Island, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at the age of 84 years, beloved wife of the late William “Bill” Poole. She leaves to cherish her memory four children, Noel Doherty, George (Debbie) Poole, Stewart (Cheryl) Poole and Linda (Calvin) Dyck; her son-in-law Larry Doherty, ten grandchildren, Stephanie (Robert) children Ava & Oliver, Michael (Leanne) children Brady & Connor, Jamin (Becky) and son Lucas, Colin (Ina), Nicole (Corey), Alicia (Kyle) and Kyla and their mother Laurie, Jordana (Brent), Caden (Kelsey) and Taryn; two step grandchildren, Tyler (Ashley) and Jessica (Kurtis) and their children Carter and Mason; two brothers, George (Jewel) Comstock, Bob (Rosemary) Comstock and her sister-in-law, Juanita Wilkins as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Lester and Margaret Comstock; her husband Bill on November 10, 2014 and a brother-in-law Stan Wilkins.

Catherine Comstock was born June 28, 1932 in Drumheller, Alberta and spent her growing up years with two brothers, George and Bob on her parents farm south east of Rosebud, Alberta. Following high school, she went to Olds College and took one year of home economics and two years at SAIT taking clothing and design. After graduation, she worked for several months in Calgary at Singers.

Following, she married Bill Poole on March 12, 1955 residing on the original Poole family homestead until 1992 then retired to Bow Island until her passing.

Our mom has been involved in many community activities. She enjoyed taking an active part as organist in both Burdett and Bow Island United Churches for the past 45 years. She spent many years being part of the U.C.W. and various other roles within the church.

Mom enjoyed reading, baking, sewing, playing cards, playing in the bell choir and singing in the choir, travelling with our dad extensively to far places such as Alaska, China, Panama and the East and West Coast to name a few.

Our mom was happiest when surrounded by family that she loved with all her heart. Dad and mom spent many hours supporting the grandchildren in all of their activities. The opportunity to spend time with her great grandchildren gave her immense joy. Mom was truly a quiet, gentle soul. She will always be the heart and soul of our family.
