PAPWORTH

VALERIE PAPWORTH, beloved wife of Lawrence Papworth, passed away at the St. Michael’s Health Centre, Palliative Care Unit, on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at the age of 49 years, after a two-year battle with cancer. Valerie is lovingly remembered by her son Jereme, daughter Randi, sisters Joann (Whendlin) Torscher and Martha Tomlinson, mother Pariel Tomlinson, niece Rose Neary and nephew Jesse Neary. She was predeceased by her father Norris Tomlinson. Valerie loved her family and friends. She was a devoted mother who made sure her children were safe and happy. She provided support for all her family and friends whenever needed. During a memorable winter storm, Valerie was born in Magrath, Alberta, on April 18, 1967. Early in her career she worked as a secretary. Lawrence and Valerie married in 1993 and moved from Lethbridge to the Magrath area in 1998. Valerie loved the outdoors and spent many hours on outdoor projects. She prided herself on building a straight fence. When indoors, Valerie enjoyed sewing and volunteering. Among the various groups she volunteered for were the Magrath United Church, Alberta Fruit Growers Society, Magrath Northern Water Coop, 4H Alberta, Chief Mountain Gas Coop and the University of Lethbridge Senate. A celebration of Valerie’s life will be held at the Coast Lethbridge Hotel & Conference Centre on Friday, February 24, 2017 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
