BRUISED HEAD, Peter
Posted: February 27th, 2017PETER MARK BRUISED HEAD passed away at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital on February 21, 2017 at the age of 80 years. Pete was born at the Cardston Blood Indian Hospital. August 23, 1936. His parents were Pete Bruised Head and Genevieve (Blood) Bruised Head.
Pete is survived by his 11 sons: Rutherford, Albert (Debbie), Wright (Carry), Allen (Tammy), Lynn (Susan), Clint (Sammy), Ivan (Leeanna), Mark, Wilsie (Azzye), Kerry (Lynnette), and Casey (Lydia); his 5 daughters Brenda (William), Trina (Wilton), Henny, Leeann, Dovelyn; brother Joe (Lorraine); sisters-in-law Helen Good Striker and Linda Bruised Head; brother-in-law Wesley Scott; as well as extended families from the Blood Reserve and the USA, Blood. Many Bears, Many Fingers, Cross Child, Eagle Child, Pace, Connelly, Racine, Holloway, Smalls Spotted Eagle, Yellow Owl, Merchant, Iron Pipe, Hall, Mittens, Conway, Takes The Gun Strong, Yellow Tail, Whiteman Runs Him. Harris, Hugs, Plenty Hoops; adopted parents Don (Henny) Davis.
Pete is survived by 61 grandchildren, 81 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
Throughout Pete’s rodeo career, he had numerous family and friends throughout Canada and the USA. The family apologizes if we have missed anyone.
Pete was predeceased by his wife Margaret; his parents Pete and Genevieve Bruised Head; his brothers Chester, Everett, Regis, Norbert and sister Isabelle; granddaughter Amanda; grandson Cody; niece Leslie; sisters-in-law Shirley and Barbra; brothers-in-law Jesse and Charlie; grandparents Mike and Louise Blood.
The Family Service will be at Legacy Funeral Home, Cardston on Sunday, February 26th at 4:00 p.m. followed by the Wake Service at the Senator Gladstone Hall, Blood Reserve from 6:00 to 11:00 p.m. The Wake will continue again on Monday, February 27th from 3:00 p.m. all night. The Funeral Service will be at the Senator Gladstone Hall on Tuesday, February 28th at 11:00 a.m. Interment in the Family Cemetery. The Feast, honoring Pete, will be at the Gladstone Hall.

Pete will be missed by so many. He was a long time friend throughout our rodeo careers. Please accept my sincere condolences on the family’s and community’s loss. He will be well remembered.

I just learned of his passing today, May 15, 2018. Pete used to rodeo with my uncle Jackson Velarde, they rodeoed in New Mexico and Arizona. It will be sad when I tell my uncle of his passing, they were the start of the Indian National Finals.
