GASZLER

MAGDALENA (LENA) GASZLER passed away peacefully at the age of 87 in Raymond, Alberta on April 29, 2017. She was predeceased by her husband Vincent of 61 years, her parents John and Magdalena Till, and her brother John (Matilda) Till.

She is survived by her 3 daughters, Patsy (Randy) Heggie, Elaine (Bill) Leishman, and Peggy Gaszler. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.

Lena was born in Varalja, Tolna, Hungary on November 18, 1929. She immigrated with her family to Canada in 1937. After graduating from Picture Butte High School, she attended the University of Alberta and then taught school in Coalhurst for 1 year. She married Vince in 1951 and they moved to the family farm north of Raymond.

Lena was a devoted wife and worked hard to support her husband on their sugar beet farm. She was a loving mother and grandmother and excellent homemaker. She loved to do many handicrafts, especially sewing for her daughters. Her husband and girls came first. Lena will be sadly missed by all her family.

A Funeral Service will be held at Salmon and Sons Funeral Home, 433 Stubb Ross Road South, Lethbridge (entrance to the airport), on Wednesday May 3rd, 2017 at 11:00AM. Friends are welcome to meet with the family prior to the service from 10:00 – 10:45. Interment to follow in the Raymond Temple Hill Cemetery.
