1927-2017

ELEANOR M. HVIZDOS (nee CIZEK), of Lethbridge, AB, passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at the age of 90 years.

Eleanor was born in Blairmore and raised in Frank, Alberta. She is survived by her son John (Jacalyn) Hvizdos of Lethbridge her grandson Michael (Deniz) Hvizdos of Newmarket, ON, granddaughter Lisa Pitt (Andrew Ratajszczak) of Melbourne, Australia, great- grandchildren Jamie, Matthew and Eric Hvizdos of Newmarket, ON, great-granddaughter Emily Ratajszczak of Melbourne Australia and her sister Evelyn Biegun of Lethbridge, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and very special friends.

Eleanor was predeceased by her parents Frank and Emily Cizek, her husband John and daughter Maureen.

Eleanor will be remembered for her wonderful hospitality and great cooking. She loved reading and was a longtime volunteer of the Bellevue library. She was an active member of the Bellevue CWL and enjoyed being a member of her weekly Whist group.

A special thank you goes out to the amazing staff of St. Therese Villa 1East. Your compassion and loving care for Eleanor was much appreciated and will always be remembered.

As per Eleanor’s request, there will be no funeral. A Visitation will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB, on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. with moments of remembrance being shared at 11:15 A.M.

This is a chance for people to say goodbye and share their fond memories of Eleanor. A light luncheon will follow.

A Private Interment will be held at a later date at the Blairmore Union Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband and daughter.

In lieu of flowers, Eleanor and her family request that donations be made in her memory to a charity of your choice.
