GRANT, Margaret “Lorraine”

July 25, 1952 – April 27, 2017

Margaret Lorraine Grant devoted daughter, professional urban planner, and devout Lay Reader in the Anglican Church passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at the age of 64 years.

Lorraine was born in London, Ontario, the only child of Norman Grant (2005) and Margaret Jessie Grant, nee Ridley (2002). As a child, Lorraine lived in many different places throughout North America. After receiving a degree in Architecture from Carlton University and a Master’s in Urban and Regional Science from the University of Toronto, Lorraine headed west, to Lethbridge, Alberta where she worked for the Regional Planning Commission. In 1997, she moved to Calgary where she was an urban planner for The City until her retirement in 2010. Lorraine loved to travel. She journeyed to Kenya, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Israel and spoke with passion about the architecture and history of the places she visited. Lorraine volunteered at Calgary’s Food Bank and was active in Woman Aglow. She was an avid reader and enjoyed needlework. Lorraine succumbed to her illness all too soon. She will be remembered fondly by her cousins, colleagues and friends. Lorraine will be reunited with her loving parents in Heaven.

Thanks to the Doctors and Nurses of the Intensive Care Unit at the South Calgary Campus Hospital and Renal Care Unit 37 at the Foothills Hospital.

Funeral Services will be held at St. Peter’s Anglican Church (903 – 75th Avenue S.W.) on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow at the church. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
