STANLEY JAMES McCREA

Stanley James McCrea passed away on June 7, 2017 in Boynton Beach, Flordia. He was born in Lethbridge on August 31, 1929 to Annie S. (Marshalsay) and Archibald McCrea. Stan was predeceased by his parents, first wife Evelyn (Turner), son Kimberly James and granddaughter Michele Renee Stewart. He is survived by his second wife Elizabeth (Gibson), brothers Orville (Gail) and Milton (Darlene) and his sister Patricia (Walter) Faber, daughters Jane Ann Cosgriff (Stephen), Keni Rae Stewart (Mark) and Sara Calzaretta (Michael), eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Stan attended Westminster, Bowman Public schools and Garbutt Business School. He developed an interest in local native history and artifacts, sculpting and oil painting. He was a member of the Lethbridge Sketch Club and his passion for oils led to his studying at the Banff School of Fine Arts and the University of Saskatchewan. His artistic talent was recognised and he became a recipient of a Canada Council Grant. At that time he was the Office Manager in the Engineering Department with the City of Lethbridge and the grant motivated him to relocate with his family to New York. His employment in New York included accounting, auditing and reinsurance with a major firm. He was subsequently contracted to administer in offices in London and Singapore.
