Kazuaki Ohno passed away in Lethbridge on August 23, 2017 at the age of 86. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Sets, their three daughters and their spouses, Terri and Rick (Kendall and Colten), Jackie and John (Abigail and Ryden), Sandra and Bob (Clarke and Calvin). He will also be missed by his siblings Tamiko Ohno, Ted Ohno (Shirley), Rumi Ibuki, Tom Ohno and sister-in-law Marie Hirashima. Kaz is predeceased by his parents Tadao and Mitsuyo Ohno, his sister Connie Kunimoto and her husband Steve, brother-in-law Ichio Ibuki, Tom’s dear partner Patricia Butler, parents-in-law Torao and Yumiko Hirashima, brother-in-law Tom Hirashima, sister and brother-in-law Hats and George Nonomura and niece Denise Fress. Kaz was born on April 3, 1931 in Mission City, BC. His family moved to Alberta in 1942 to work on a sugar beet farm near Shaughnessy and then relocated to Barnwell in 1948. Following graduation from Taber High School in 1951, he attended SAIT where he completed a certificate in Building Construction and Drafting in 1953. He owned and operated Lethbridge House Designs and Blueprinting until he retired in 1991. Kaz enjoyed country music, his guitar, special cars, visiting casinos, and trips to Las Vegas. The family wishes to thank the medical and support staff that cared for Kaz, especially those in the Palliative Care Unit. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 27, 2017 from 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Generations Funeral Home. At Kaz’s request there will be a private family interment and memorial. Also at Kaz’s request, flowers, koden and donations are gratefully declined.
