HINATSU, June Fujiye August 16, 1926 – Vancouver, British Columbia September 4, 2017 – Calgary, Alberta

Dad came to get Mom on Monday, September 4, 2017. It is with sadness we say goodbye but are comforted knowing they are reunited. Mom was born in Vancouver, BC on August 16, 1926 and celebrated her 91st birthday this year. Left to honour her memory are her children; son, Gerald and daughters, Karen (Noel) Thomas and Bonnie (John) Caldwell. She also leaves her precious grandchildren, Courtney (Landon) Wehlage, Halley Thomas, Harley, Molly, Skylar and Georgia Caldwell and Ela Hinatsu, as well as a great-grandchild, Chloe Wehlage. June was predeceased by her husband, Hector Hideo Hinatsu. A Private Cremation was held in Calgary on September 10, 2017 and a Family Graveside Memorial will be held in Lethbridge at Mountainview Cemetery (1210 Scenic Dr S, Lethbridge, AB; block 19, section 4) on September 23, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Mother’s Life at Paradise Canyon – Riverview Room (185 Canyon Blvd W, Lethbridge, AB). We would like to thank Reverend Martin in Calgary for his support and prayers and Reverend Izumi for helping to conduct the Lethbridge ceremony. Thank you to Lynn and Lori from All About Seniors and the Mount Royal Staff who helped care for Mother in her final year. Thank you to McInnis and Holloway for helping to make a difficult time less challenging. Memories are what makes a person’s life continue and the grandkids will always remember Grandma’s smile, her chicken soup when they were sick, her amazing cooking abilities, especially her New Year’s supper with the black bean crab and sushi. They all had fun on her exercise machine and karaoke machine and when GG was angry with them, speaking to Grandpa in Japanese because she thought they couldn’t understand.
