SAMESHIMA

SUKEO “SAM” SAMESHIMA passed away peacefully at Legacy Lodge on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at the age of 101 years.

Left to mourn Sam’s passing are his wife Kay of 73 years, his daughter Eileen Sameshima, his sons Christopher and Terence Sameshima and his grandson Michael McKinley.

Sam was born on November 23, 1915 in New Westminster, British Columbia and moved to Japan at age 5. Ten years later, Sam returned to Canada, where he married his loving wife Kay on January 25, 1944. He also owned and operated Sam’s Shoe Renew in Coaldale from 1948 to 1990.

Sam was a quiet, kind, gentle and patient man. He loved writing haiku and many of his writings have been published. He was very much respected by his peers.

The family would like to extend a thank-you to all of the staff at Legacy Lodge and Dr. Eric Mueller.

Cremation and burial will take place at a later date.
