NORTON

GAIL LOUISE WALKER NORTON was born on September 25, 1942 in Athabasca, Alberta, the daughter of Dr. Bernal E and Ruby L Walker, where her father taught school. She was raised in Edmonton, where her father taught Education at the University of Alberta. And later moved to Raymond, Alberta after her marriage and sealing to Dr. Clair Norton in 1961. He worked as a physician in the Raymond-Magrath Clinic. They enjoyed their time in Raymond until 1975 when they moved to their farm in Magrath. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on October 12, 2017 after a brief battle with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

Gail found happiness in being a homemaker and was known for her fresh bread and homemade jam, quilting, gardening, sewing, family history and love of learning. She found solace in nature and enjoyed teaching her children and grandchildren about insects, animals and the world around them. She was a wonderful mother and taught with patience, love and example. As a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she held callings in all of the organizations and especially loved Relief Society and serving others. Her life was centered around service and making friends. She loved music and enjoyed playing beautiful music to the residents in Garden City Good Samaritan Society for Relief Society and did this for the past 17 years. She will be remembered for her quiet deeds and genuine love for others, gratitude, service, compassion and the ability to endure trials cheerfully, without complaint.

Her time and devotion was however, always centered on her husband and family. She loved, served and cared for Kent, her special son, for 54 and a half years sacrificing many of her own desires for his welfare. She is survived by her loving husband, Dr. Clair Harker Norton; children: Denise Anderson (Devon) and children; Mark (Monica) Broadhead and their children, Nora and Alec; Amy; Jill; and David Broadhead (currently serving an LDS Mission in California). Daughter: Catherine Cahoon (Brent) and their children; Naomi (Aarron); Ashley; Holly and Megan. Brother Glen Walker (Mary Anne King). She was predeceased by her daughter Nancy Ruth Norton and son Kent Walker Norton and her parents.

Thank you to the Doctors, Nurses, Laboratory Technicians and friends who have bee so kind and helpful during this time.
