FLYNN

Grant Edward “Kelly” Flynn, at the age of 89, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at the Campbell River Hospital with his family by his side. Kelly was born September 18, 1928 in Stettler, Alberta. He spent much of his formative years growing up on the family farm near Passmore, BC during the Depression and WWII. There he learned to be an adventurous, independent, explorer of life which he conveyed throughout his whole life. Kelly married his sweetheart, dance partner and better half, Dorothy Elizabeth James (1926-2008) of Lethbridge, AB in 1952 and went on to raise three children. Kelly is best remembered in Salmon Arm managing Lakeside Insurance from the late 1970’s through the 1990’s. Wherever Kelly lived in Canada, he made the most of his spare time exploring the outdoors, travelling and woodworking. He was generous with his time helping others by volunteering with the Boy Scouts and many community organizations along the way, including serving as a councillor with the District of Salmon Arm, the AISH Appeals Board in Lethbridge, the Campbell River Variance Board and lastly the CR Shoreline Arts Society. With his outgoing personality and good health in his 70`s and 80`s, Kelly loved cooking on the barbeque and entertaining guests with his dinner creations. At the age of 82 he travelled a second time to Egypt exploring numerous archeological sites along the Nile river. Special thanks go to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Campbell River Hospital for their kindness and care.
