Mary Miller
1945 – 2017
On Monday, December 25, 2017, Mary Stirling (Marshall) Miller of Milk River, passed away suddenly at the age of 72 years, beloved wife of Kenneth Miller. Mary was born on April 7, 1945 in London, Ontario. In 1952 Mary’s family moved to Edmonton; she graduated from U of A with a B.Ed. and in 1968 she married Ken Miller. She taught school for six years; then she and Ken purchased the current family farm near Milk River. When her children were young Mary spent her time juggling the schedules of four very active children and delivering hot meals out to the field. Despite being so busy she still managed to find time to have the house decorated for every festive occasion, have a sewing or crafting project on the go, and most of all, hosting friends and family for social gatherings. In her later years, Mary found true joy in her grandchildren. She made attending their school and sporting events a priority. She loved watching rodeos, playing cards, sewing, crafting and doing yard work with them all. Mary was especially good at embellishing all of their wardrobes with a keen eye for each child’s size, color and style. Mary was the pillar of strength for the entire family and she will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Besides her loving husband Ken, Mary is survived by her son Kache (Jody) Miller of Milk River; three daughters; Lora (Ty) Scott of Prescott, AZ, Elise (Kelly) Walker of Milk River, Angela (Chris) Hazell of Foremost, her grandchildren Clayton, Mike and Mathew Miller, Saige and Chase Scott, Wrennah, Wreesah and Wylee Walker, Rhyan, Blake and Blair Hazell; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Mary was predeceased by her parents Duncan and Helen Marshall and her brother Duncan Marshall. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 12:00pm and 12:50pm on Friday, December 29, 2017 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 321 Main Street N. Milk River, Alberta. A Funeral Service will follow at 1:00pm with Reverend Marion Martin officiating. A private family interment will follow in the Milk River Cemetery. Mary would appreciate if everyone could please join the family at the Milk River Civic Center after the service for a luncheon reception and sharing of memories with the family. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Milk River Health Center, 517 Centre Avenue N.E. Milk River, Alberta, T0K 1M0 or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, Box 2211 Lethbridge, Alberta, T1J 4K7.
