Dr. William “Bill” Batting

1925 – 2018

Dr. W.R. (Bill) Batting of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Mary, now deceased, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at the age of 92 years.

Our mom and dad were good to each other and as parents provided a loving and supportive environment for our family. Both of our parents were born and raised in Saskatchewan and moved to Stettler where Dad began his optometry practice.

In the late 1950’s our family moved to Lethbridge where Dad served the fine residents of Southern Alberta for the next forty years.

Our parents had many friends they met through golf, curling, bridge and their involvement in community service organizations that included Knights of Columbus, Kinsmen and the Gyro Club.

Dad is survived by his son Bob (Erin) Batting; daughters Lorna (Ken) Bateman, and Karen Svrcek; grandchildren Caitlin, Connor, Kristin (Cam), Jennifer (Shylo), Kelly, Steven, Kevin and their families; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Dad was predeceased by his loving wife Mary, their daughter Brenda and brothers Norman and Roy.

We are grateful for the loving care provided by the staff of St. Therese Villa, assisted living facility.

There will be no funeral or memorial service at this time but rather a private family gathering to celebrate Dad’s life will be arranged at a future date.
